Environmentally Responsible – We build projects that sustain quality of life, done with clean-fuel energy efficient machines that utilize SCR technology to comply with the latest EPA emissions standards to reduce our carbon footprint.
Founded in 1973, we specialize in major site-work including site clearing and grubbing, ground improvement earth surcharge, mass excavation and embankment, below-grade piping installation, in-situ and pulvi-mixing soil stabilization; and construction of site structures including foundation bathtub, building-pads, impoundment, site-work-related concrete, paving infrastructure, heavy haul-roads, laydown yard, brine pond and dredge material placement areas (DMPA).
Byler performs site-work and railroad construction for massive railroad projects; including a 10,000-car multi-phased storage in transit yard (SIT) that was the largest privately-owned facility of its kind in the United States. We have completed a variety of turnkey-projects for hundreds of miles of railroads including Class-I mainline, storage in transit (SIT), transloads, sidings, spurs and wye-tracks; constructed in a variety of soil and environmental conditions. We perform Class-1 maintenance-of-way, emergency and derailment services.

On the front-end, company orientation and PPE is issued to craft workers upon employment. Background checks, badging and operator certifications are issued based on qualifications and project requirements. Additional training is given as required based on owners’ site-specific orientations. We continually audit our sites searching for short falls. Our aim is to identify weaknesses that present increased risk and missed strategic opportunities. The management level evaluates findings to determine clear, actionable solutions to mitigate such risk and improve our safety culture.

History
Founded in 1973, WT "Troy" Byler (pictured right) established WT Byler Co after having worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in their engineering department. From humble beginnings, the original forces included a backhoe, tractor-mower and four field personnel. Mr. Byler built our company with inherent values centered around people with commitment to building the job right the first time.
Today, still family owned and operated, WT "Bill" Byler leads us into new and exciting areas of growth with a firm commitment to the original core values. The company has grown to forces that include hundreds of units of construction equipment and transport trucks, employs hundreds of personnel, works millions of work-hours and produces revenues of hundreds of millions annually.

We are the company to call for emergency response and derailment service. Within 24 hours of Hurricane Ike, we were the first responder to Galveston Island, removing debris from railroad right-of-ways. Our team can also help create an emergency plan for construction site personnel if needed.
