UP South Main Derailment
A 29 railcar derailment spilling petroleum coke and ammonium nitrate left South Main / HWY 90 shut down in both directions. WT Byler Co. provided heavy equipment services and support forces for the following:
- Provided heavy equipment services loading railcar undercarriage, rail and tie debris
- Imported sub-ballast, placed and installed a # 20 switch
- Cut grade for new track panels
- Assisted Union Pacific forces with tool carriers and new tie installation
- Re-aligned the existing track
- Performed the final grading and dress work
Area residents were advised to shelter in place shortly after the accident, but it was later determined that there was no danger regarding chemical releases
